Best bio fertilizer for potato and other tuber crops

Optimised for a Variety of Tuber Crops

Neem cake uplifts various tuber crop varieties, from Atlantic and Kipfler to Bintje and Delight, making it an excellent potato fertilizer. These crops require specific nutrients right from planting, with elements like P, K, Ca, and B, among others, playing vital roles. The proper supply of nutrients and water during tuber initiation is crucial for crop number and size. Nitrogen and potassium support early growth and dry matter, making it the best fertiliser for plants. Phosphate enhances tuber development and growth, and magnesium nurtures overall plant development. Zinc and manganese provide powdery and common scab control. Sulphur combats common and powdery scab while boosting tuber numbers, making it the best natural fertiliser for your crops.

Planting Preparation

For successful planting, prepare a trench approximately 6 inches wide and 8 inches deep, spacing potato rows 3 feet apart. Incorporate rotted manure or organic compost at the trench bottom, ensuring a soil conditioner is used. Plant seed potato pieces, cut side down, every 12 to 14 inches, covering them with 3 to 4 inches of soil. Use clean, sharp paring knives to cut large potatoes into golf ball-sized pieces, ensuring each piece has at least two eyes.

Cutting should be done 1 to 2 days prior to planting to allow for healing and form a protective layer over cut surfaces. As sprouts appear 12 to 16 days after planting, gently fill the trench with another 3 to 4 inches of soil. Repeat this process for several weeks, leaving the soil mounded 4 to 5 inches above ground level. Add organic mulch between rows to conserve moisture, aid weed control, and cool the soil.

Neem Cake Application

Method 1: Prior to planting, broadcast PLANC at 350–400 kg/hectare and prepare a bed by incorporating PLANC, a great plant food. Leave the moist, prepared ground for a few weeks, enhancing PLANC’s soil conditioning for potato crops, the best fertiliser for potato and tuber crops.

Method 2: Prepare the ground without planting and then make it ready for planting. After bed preparation, apply PLANC either by broadcasting or banding at a rate of 350–400 kg/hectare of planting area, ensuring the best potato fertilizer. This method also leverages PLANC’s soil conditioning properties for thriving potatoes, making it a great potato fertiliser.
